Yaktrax and Highgear, both brands under Implus LLC, and Save the Poles leader Eric Larsen have signed a three-year sponsorship agreement that will last through 2014. As part of the agreement, Larsen will field test Yaktrax and Highgear products during his future expeditions and will make several public appearances on behalf of the brands.

“Were very excited to be working with Eric who is a world-class explorer and tremendous advocate for the Yaktrax and Highgear brands,” said Steve Couder, VP of Sales for Yaktrax. “This will be an invaluable opportunity for our products to be utilized by someone who has journeyed to some of the most extreme locations and at the same time were proud to support Eric’s continued hard work toward preserving the great frozen places of the world.”

Eric Larsen has spent his entire life in pursuit of wilderness. On his recent Save the Poles expedition, Larsen journeyed to the North Pole, South Pole and summit of Mount Everest in a 365-day period – the first time one person reached all three “poles” in one year. Larsen raises awareness about global warming and is an advocate for solutions. He has plans to produce a documentary film, book and educational CD-ROM that focus on global warming, teamwork and the spirit of adventure; and develop a post-expedition multimedia lecture series for education in schools and organizations.

“Ice traction and outdoor electronics are both critical pieces of equipment to consider for safety and survival on a polar expedition,” Larsen said. “Yaktrax and Highgear’s commitment to innovation, quality and functionality are unparalleled and Im looking forward to utilizing these products on upcoming adventures.”
