For nearly two decades Whitetails Unlimited has been financially supporting the 4-H Shooting Sports, and this year they are once again providing a donation to support their 2009 National/Regional Instructor Training Workshop. This year's workshop was held May 3 through 8 at West Virginia University's Jackson's Mill State 4-H Camp in Weston, West Virginia.

These national workshops are held annually, rotating among the various regions of the United States. The primary purpose of the workshop is to strengthen the 4-H Shooting Sports Program at the state level, with the focus on training instructors in the principles and techniques of teaching adults, so that they can then teach the shooting sports to our nation's youth.

Since 1992, Whitetails Unlimited has donated more than $100,000 to support various programs within 4-H Shooting Sports, and is proud to help them accomplish their goals each year.

The overall focus of all 4-H programs is the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens. The National 4-H Shooting Sports Program stands out as an example of the great work 4-H accomplishes each year. Youth learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery, and much more. The program's activities and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and conservation ethics.

It is expected that participants in the National 4-H Shooting Sports Training Workshop will return to their home states and take an active role training instructors at state 4-H Shooting Sports workshops.
