Woom Bikes USA, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), recalled all sizes of its Woom Original 2018 to 2021 model bikes. The bike’s stem and handlebar could detach and cause riders to lose control, posing a fall hazard.
The stems on the Woom Original bikes have one silver bolt to clamp onto the steerer tube. The kid’s bikes are for ages 18 months to 14 years. Woom sold the bikes in six versions: Woom 1, Woom 1 Plus, Woom 2, Woom 3, Woom 4, Woom 5, and Woom 6.
The Woom 1 and Woom 1 Plus are balance bikes, and Woom 2 through 6 are pedal bikes, sold in red, green, blue, purple, and yellow colorways. The word “woom” in white letters appears on the sides of the downtube. The word “woom” in metallic lettering is also visible on the front of the headtube. The markings “#woombikes” in black letters appear on the chain stay and wheel size in black on the sides of the front fork.
Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled bikes and contact Woom Bikes USA for a free repair kit. Woom Bikes USA is also contacting all known purchasers directly.
Woom sold the Woom Original bikes on woom.com, amazon.com and select local bicycle stores nationwide from September 2018 through March 2022 for between $200 and $530.
