Wilson Sporting Goods Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Amer Sports, has acquired Athletic Training Equipment Company, Inc. (ATEC), the world's leading manufacturer of pitching machines and training equipment, from Sport Supply Group Inc. Consideration for the acquisition is $10.5 million.. Effective immediately, ATEC will become a part of the Wilson Team Sports Company.

ATEC manufactures pitching machines and training equipment for baseball and softball and thus supports Team Sports' strong market positions in these sports. ATEC's annual sales are approximately $11 million and the company is highly profitable.

This experience brings ATEC centuries of coaching and training knowledge to the design of its products. As a result, ATEC is the official supplier of pitching machines and other training equipment to Major League Baseball.

The company employs 40 people and is located in Sparks, Nevada.
