Western Kentucky Athletics said it reached an agreement for Nike to replace Russell Athletic as the department’s official apparel provider beginning on July 1, 2017.
The announcement came a day after Russell Athletic and Western Kentucky said it mutually agreed to end their exclusive on-field sponsorship agreement as of June 30. WKU and Russell have partnered together since 2007.
Beginning with the 2017-18 season, Nike will be the official apparel and shoe provider for each of WKU’s 16 athletic teams.
“All of our sport programs and student-athletes will benefit from the relationship with Nike,” Director of Athletics Todd Stewart said. “We are very excited to partner with the leading and most recognizable brand in athletics.”
A full uniform reveal will occur this summer.
