Warren Miller Entertainment recently released Chasing Shadows, the 66th edition of its annual winter sports film legacy.

This year’s installment of the iconic winter film series celebrates the question of why skiers and snowboarders commit themselves every winter to a passion that’s guaranteed to melt away by spring.

“A pair of skis are the ultimate transportation to freedom…”

Warren Miller’s annual film tradition marks the beginning of the winter season, exploration and premier cinematography that reignites the excitement for skiing and riding each year.

Miller once said, “A pair of skis are the ultimate transportation to freedom,” and in Chasing Shadows, skiers and snowboarders find that freedom as they search for storms, snow and the world’s highest peaks.

“This year’s film will inspire viewers to search out their dreams and find freedom,” said Director of Cinematography Chris Patterson, who has been making films with Warren Miller for 24 years. “Our athletes show us that anything is possible if your passions and desires are in the right direction.”

The film features some of the biggest names in skiing and snowboarding, including JT Holmes, Seth Wescott, Caroline Gleich, Steven Nyman, Marcus Caston and Ingrid Backstrom. The gang of powder-hungry athletes pursue turns in the French Alps, Alaska’s Chugach, Utah’s Wasatch, the Chilean Andes and the Himalaya.

Footage provides a unique glimpse into the world of the U.S. freestyle team and the snowsports that “live on the fringe,” — like monoskiing, powsurfing and speedriding. The film also explores culturally rich locations and snow-covered summits that motivate skiers and snowboarders, “to keep searching and chasing after a feeling, a memory, a storm, a turn each winter and for a lifetime more.”

The annual Warren Miller Film Tour for Chasing Shadows kicked off in Salt Lake City, UT, on October 16, and is in the process of hitting cities in the Rockies, Midwest, California, Pacific Northwest, East Coast and Southwest on a national tour that closes in December.
