The Walking Company announced its 6th annual Walking for Hope campaign during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Since 2011, The Walking Company has raised and donated over $850,000 to support the cancer research center City of Hope and local charity partners benefiting both breast cancer and other types of cancer. As The Walking Company celebrates its 25th anniversary, it has pledged to raise over $150,000 this year to reach a combined total donation of $1 million dollars for the Walking for Hope program since its inception.
Proceeds will be raised through the sales of an exclusive Abeo biomechanical footwear and accessories collection adorned with the pink ribbon, a universal symbol for breast cancer awareness. The assortment includes athletic styles, shearling boots and slippers and accessories featuring the customized-comfort technology of Abeo.
The collection is available at The Walking Company’s 210-plus nationwide stores and online at thewalkingcompany.com.
“Continuing the momentum of success with our ‘Walking for Hope’ campaign and dedication to promoting a healthy lifestyle through mobility with customized footwear solutions, we are proud to once again support this cause with a pledge to reach $1 million during our silver anniversary,” said Lee Cox, president at The Walking Company. “Through a valuable partnership with City of Hope and strategic grassroots initiatives within our retail chain, we’ve made a difference on both a local and national level to support the fight against cancer.”
For the first time, The Walking Company will be a finish line sponsor at City of Hope’s Walk for Hope event in Los Angeles on November 6. A contributing sponsor, the company also participated in the San Diego Together 4 Hope event on September 25 and the Phoenix Walk for Hope event on October 2. The company will continue to support various local events and charities across the country committed to the fight against cancer. For more information, visit: thewalkingcompany.com/wfh.
