Wal-Mart Stores has launched an online marketplace with nearly 1 million items available through a number of retailers. Retailers so far include CSN Stores, a provider of home, baby, toys, sporting goods and shoes; eBags, a bags and luggage retailer; and Pro Team, a subsidiary of Dreams.

Under the arrangment, all purchases from a Walmart Marketplace retailer
are managed through Walmart.com's “trusted and secure” checkout
process. The Walmart Marketplace retailer will then manage and support
the order, including shipping and handling, customer service, exchanges
and returns.

The discounter said Walmart Marketplace further expands its online assortment with new products and top brands within some of the most popular online categories, including Home, Baby, Apparel, Toys and Sporting Goods / Sports Memorabilia. In addition, the program offers the added convenience of purchasing from select retailers known for their customer service and large selection. Walmart.com carefully chose these specific retailers based on their strong customer service track records and large assortments of quality brands and products. Also, Walmart.com will continue to grow the Walmart Marketplace program with additional retailers over the next year.

“We've added nearly one million new items to our online assortment with the introduction of Walmart Marketplace, making it even easier for customers to find more of what they want when shopping Walmart.com,” said Kerry Cooper, Walmart.com's chief marketing officer. “Working with select retailers, known for their strong customer service and large online assortments of new merchandise, gives our customer more reasons to choose Walmart.com when shopping online.”

In the coming months, Walmart.com will announce additional programs designed to further expand its online assortment for customers.
