The Grand Opening of Volcom’s new retail store in Mexico City in early October 2015 was recorded as an all-out fiesta that brought the energy and spirit of the brand to the cultural capital of Mexico.
The kickoff celebration on October 8 drew a crowd that including artists, musicians, models, and media. Volcom pro skaters Ryan Sheckler and David Gonzalez were also in attendance for the all-day bash. Mexican Volcom skaters Mario Saenz and Michael Scott, as well as iconic Puerto Escondido surfer Oscar Moncada, represented the local contingent, creating what the company called “an energized, cross-cultural vibe that perfectly captured why a Volcom store in Mexico City is a perfect fit for the brand.”
The event marked the proper kickoff of Volcom’s all-new, 850 square-foot store. This is the brand’s first retail location in Mexico— situated in Centro Santa Fe, one of the Latin America’s largest shopping malls.
Surrounded by highrises, city parks and college campuses, this location in the city’s southwest corner is an ideal backdrop for bringing the Volcom vibe to Mexico, the brand said.
“Mexico is an important territory for Volcom and our development in the Latin America region,” said Randy Childress VP of international. “We are very excited to have our first store open in the heart of Mexico City. It provides a great platform to express the brand and showcase our premium product offering.”
Childress also alluded to a second store opening in the late first quarter of 2016.
Gearing up for the grand opening, Volcom oversaw a top-to-bottom custom build-out of the space, creating a full-immersion retail experience. The store offers the full spectrum of Volcom products for Men, Women and Youth, from Mod-Tech Boardshorts, Volcom Brand Jeans, and complete collection of apparel, footwear and accessories.
