Vans filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Target over its Old Skool sneaker design.

According to Bloomberg Law, the lawsuit concerns Target’s “Camella Lace-Up” shoe that Vans claims to closely resembles Vans “side stripe” design and even noted the customers referred to the shoes as “fake Vans” on target.com. Vans contends Target came out with the collection to support the launch of its new Wild Fable private-label streetwear line.

Vans is seeking an injunction to stop Target from selling any merchandise that resembles the Vans “side stripe” and profits from any previous sales.

Target issued a statement on the matter to Newsweek stating, “At Target, we have a deep appreciation and respect for design rights. We’re aware of the lawsuit filing and have been in contact with our vendor, who is looking into the claims.”
