VF Corp. will launch a pilot online store to sell its Vans line on tmall.com, a retail website run by Taobao, China’s
largest online shopping operator.
According to chinadaily.com, the pilot will represent a test before rolling out e-commerce opportunities in the country for Lee, Wrangler, The North Face and Kipling in 2012.
“E-commerce and digital strategies will be one of major plans we made
for VF’s development in China this year,” said Aidan OMeara, president
of VF Asia Pacific.
OMeara said VF is expecting online sales will account for 5 to 10 percent of total sales by 2015.
