UST Mamiya announced the promotion of two employees to key engineering and research positions within the company.

Take will be responsible for managing the research and development teams in the U.S. and Japan, as well as overall responsibility for the integration of systems and procedures between the U.S. & Japan. Take joined the company last year after a five-year stint with Titleist-Japan, where he served as a director of research and development for the Asian Territory in their golf club development group. Prior, he worked eighteen years in the scientific research group as a senior engineer at Daiwa Seiko, Inc.

“Shigeki brings a great deal of engineering and design experience to UST Mamiya, as well as a strong knowledge of computer sciences,” said Gene Simpson, chief operating officer for UST Mamiya. “Fluent in both English and Japanese, he will also play a vital role in the management planning and communication between UST Mamiya corporate headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas and the Tokyo, Japan office.”

Jamie Pipes has been promoted to director of product development for UST Mamiya. A nine-year veteran with UST Mamiya, Pipes most recently served as manager of field research and product testing for the company. Pipes will assume full departmental responsibility for all product designs and prototype making at UST Mamiya’s Fort Worth, Texas manufacturing and finishing facility. He will report directly to Take, but will work with UST Mamiya’s marketing department, syncing product development with strategic direction for OEM and branded shaft initiatives. Prior, he served as tour representative for a leading club company on the Nationwide Tour, and was a standout player in college at Texas Wesleyan, finishing runner up at Nationals four consecutive years. Pipes is a Class A PGA Professional.

“Jamie has an impeccable track record in the development of true performance graphite golf shafts, both for UST Mamiya-brands and for OEM proprietary models,” said Simpson.

UST Mamiya graphite golf shafts are trusted by some of the best players in the world, including UST Mamiya staff players Stewart Cink, Davis Love III and Rod Pampling.
