The U.S. Department of Education recently announced the availability of $70 million dollars for the purchase of produces, including snow sports, that help activate children and for training on the use of such products, reported the SIA. The Carol H. White Physical Education Progress (PEP) grants can be secured by schools and community groups for physical education programs that can include snow sports activities.


The grants were announced Jan. 15, 2009. The deadline for receiving grant proposals is Mar. 9. Grant winners will be announced in September. In the past, the average allocation per grant is $300,000.
