Under Armour Inc. signed three-time Tewaaraton award winner Taylor Cummings to its roster of athletes. Cummings, an award-winning and national title holding lacrosse player, will be the face of Under Armour’s Women’s lacrosse business.
The stand-out midfielder, a Maryland native, is no stranger to the Under Armour brand. Cummings attended the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD, an Under Armour school, where she led the team to four IAAM championships, three undefeated seasons and three National No. 1 rankings, and was a two-time Lacrosse Magazine National Player of the Year.
In her senior year, Cummings was an Under Armour All-American and named MVP of the 2012 game. After high school, Cummings went on to play for the University of Maryland, another Under Armour school. As a Terrapin, Cummings shattered records, being named a four-time IWLCA First Team All-American, three-time IWLCA National Midfielder of the Year, three-time ESPN ESPY nominee for Best Female College Athlete, three-time Honda Award winner, two-time NCAA National Champion and NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player, and the Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year in 2015.
“Under Armour has a rich heritage in the sport of lacrosse and we are extremely excited to officially welcome Taylor to the family,” said Walker Jones, Senior Director of Global Sports Marketing at Under Armour. “Taylor is an athlete that truly transcends the sport of lacrosse. She is one of the best athletes that the game has ever seen and we look forward to supporting Taylor as she continues to dominate the game.”
Under Armour, in partnership with Cummings, will continue to further establish the brand in the sport of lacrosse. Cummings will support the lacrosse category through various grassroots camps and clinics. She will be the face of all category-specific marketing campaigns and will also return to the Under Armour All-American Game as a coach, to help inspire the next generation of lacrosse stars.
“I am excited to be part of Team UA as I look to take my own game to the next level in international and professional competition,” said Taylor Cummings. “I also look forward to working with Under Armour to help them continue to be at the cutting edge of lacrosse performance apparel and equipment. It is very exciting to partner with an innovative leader like Under Armour through my new business, Taylor Cummings Lacrosse, LLC, to help develop the next generation of game-changing lacrosse student-athletes and share my passion, love and respect for the game of lacrosse with them.”
Cummings is a current member of the U.S. National Team and recently competed in the inaugural United Women’s Lacrosse League for the Baltimore Ride.
