Uncle Josh has announced the purchase of substantially all of the assets of Acme Tackle Company, of Providence, RI The Acme brand of metal fishing spoons will be added to the current line of Uncle Josh brands, which includes Kalin's, Beaver Dam, ATOM, Bead, Bombshell, Little Stinker, and Uncle Josh Pork lines.

“This will be a big year for Uncle Josh,” says Kurt Kellogg, owner of Uncle Josh. “We have had more growth in the last couple years than we ever have and our brand has been around since 1922. Acme Tackle is our sixth acquisition since 2002, but I'm already looking for more fishing companies to buy.”

The Acme brand's claim to fame is their jewelry-like finish and Kellogg said that the quality will continue as they are using the same suppliers Acme always has. Former Acme President Art Lavallee is confident Uncle Josh will maintain the same standard.

“I think Acme Tackle found a good home with Uncle Josh,” says Lavallee.  “I'm confident that they will keep the Acme brand a quality one.”

Acme spoons are popular in the salmon and trout industry and have a large footprint of dealers across the world.

“Acme has 12 models of spoons but their Kastmaster and Little Cleo lines are the flagships,” says Kellogg.  “These two styles of spoons are icons in the industry, similar to the way our own Beaver Dam tip-up, Uncle Josh Pork, and Kalin's grubs are viewed.”

Uncle Josh provides fresh, salt, open and hard-water offerings, all of which are made in the U.S.
