Golf Datatech’s National Rounds Played Report for August 2022 showed that U.S. rounds were up 3.9 percent in the month but still down 2.6 percent year-to-date, year-over-year.
By region for the month of August, the gains were led by Mountain, up 8.3 percent; followed by the South Atlantic, ahead 8.1 percent; Mid-Atlantic, 7.3 percent; East North Central, 5.7 percent; New England, 5.0 percent; and West North Central, 0.8 percent.
Declines came from the Pacific region, down 2.6 percent and South Central, 1.3 percent.
August 2022 marked the golf industry’s third straight positive month as comparisons earlier in the year faced elevated year-ago levels tied to the pandemic.
U.S. golf rounds played were up 2.5 percent for July and grew 2.7 percent for June.
U.S. golf rounds played in 2022 declined 6.8 percent in May, gave back 12.9 percent in April, declined 14.3 percent in March, rose 13 percent in February, and declined 12.2 percent in January.
