According to Golf Datatech, U.S. rounds of golf played fell 12.2 percent in January compared to January 2021.
By region in the month of January, the biggest year-over-year decline was seen in New England, down 81.0 percent followed by Mid-Atlantic, 68.9 percent; East North Central, 61.2 percent; South Central, 20.9 percent; and Pacific, 2.7 percent.
Regions with increases in rounds played include West North Central, 31.8 percent; South Atlantic, 15.6 percent; and Mountain, 2.4 percent.
Play at the nation’s golf courses has declined since last June as the industry faced tough comparisons against pandemic-related surges in the year-ago period.
For the full year 2021, rounds played were up 5.5 percent.
