Tyr has appointed founder and former owner, Steve Furniss,
as director of team sales and Ryan Dolan to the position of director of sports
specialty sales. Both will be responsible for the sales and service in their respective
athletic communities.
In conjunction, Brent Smith has assumed the position of team
sales and sponsorship manager and will report to Furnis. Ryan Dolan will
contiue to oversee triathlon sponsorships.
Matt DiLorenzo, chief executive officer, said in a
statement to the trade, “The goal of this change is simple, to put Tyr in a position to better
service the distinct and special needs of our two sports communites with renewed
efffort and passion. Started in 1985, Tyr has evolved an grown over the years
to represent not only the highest levels of competition in swim, but triathlon as
well. The individuals who have been appointed to each role possess the unique
experience and knowledge that will allow them to stand poised to strengthen our relationships, and provide the
best service possible. In the case of Steve Furniss, he brings a high level of swimming
acumen due to his 30 years as industry veteran. Some of his accolades include
medaling in the 1972 Olympic Games and sitting on the Board of Directors for the
Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association.
