President Donald Trump plans to reduce the boundaries of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah, according to multiple reports.

The news came from the office of Senator Hatch, a Utah Republican. Concerns of Utah’s land policies played a major role in the Outdoor Retailer show’s relocation to Denver.

The Bears Ears monument covers 1.35 million acres, and Grand Staircase-Escalante, the largest monument in the United States, spans 1.9 million acres. No details on how much or what sections of the land may be paired back.

Earlier this year Trump initiated a review, led by Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, of more than two dozen national monuments designated by Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

In August, Zinke said he’d be asking President Trump to shrink “a handful” of national monuments that previous presidents designated to protect land and water.
