Triumph Apparel Corp., the manufacturer of Danskin, announced plans to open a logistics and distribution center in Sumter, SC, by the end of the summer. The 67,000-square-foot facility is expected to be up and running by Aug. 31.

“We're excited about coming to Sumter, and we believe, based on our economic modeling, Sumter gives us the greatest opportunity to be successful,” said Triumph Apparel Chief Operating Officer Kevin Nisbet. “Sumter had everything we needed to get up and running quickly so we can better serve our clients and customers.”

Nisbet cited Sumter's proximity to Charleston,  its central location along the seaboard and a capable work force as factors that influenced the company's decision to locate here.

“Danskin is a name recognized by so many around the globe. It's exciting to be a host community for such a name,” said
Sumter County Council Chairwoman Vivian Fleming-McGhane. “We wish Triumph Apparel great luck. We have a business environment that creates opportunities for companies like Triumph Apparel, and in turn, they create opportunities for our citizens.”
