The National Retail Federation, along with dozens of other trade associations, sent a letter to President Trump over the weekend outlining their concerns over the impact the coronavirus is having on its members’ businesses.
The letter, which can be read in its entirety here, was also signed by the Outdoor Industry Association, Snowsports Industries American, National Ski & Snowboard Retailers, National Sporting Goods Association, Footwear Distributors and Retailers Association, American Apparel and Footwear Association and others.
The letter states, “The economic harm from social distancing and mandatory store closures is real. Layoffs and economic hardship will surely follow, particularly for smaller, specialty retailers and brands. The biggest single issue facing the industry right now is liquidity, and federal stimulus efforts must be swift and flexible enough to address the urgent need for access to credit to keep these businesses afloat.”
