Topgolf named Birmingham as its first location planned in Alabama. Construction will begin on the 65,000-square-foot venue early next year, with an expected opening toward the end of 2017.

“As we look to expand in the Southeast, Birmingham is a key market that has been on Topgolf’s radar for a long time,” said Topgolf Director of Real Estate Development Devin Charhon. “With all the recent development in the downtown Birmingham area and all that the Uptown Entertainment District around the BJCC offers, we look forward to bringing a new option for entertainment to the Birmingham market.”

Charhon estimated that the three-level location in the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) would serve approximately 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation.

“The BJCC is excited about the progress being made to bring Topgolf’s popular concept to the Birmingham area,” said BJCC Executive Director Tad Snider. “Topgolf’s recreational offering will provide a great mix of entertainment for Birmingham-area residents at the BJCC’s Uptown District.”
