Authentic Brands Group (ABG) has promoted Todd Krinsky as the new CEO of Reebok after acquiring the brand earlier this year. Krinsky replaces Matt O’Toole, who has led Reebok for the past 15 years.
A Reebok veteran, Krinsky joined Reebok in 1992 as an intern before working his way up the ranks to be appointed this year as vice president of the Reebok Design Group, where he oversaw product management and design of the brand’s footwear and apparel. He has also been credited with spearheading the Boston, MA-based brand’s Classics business.
“I am excited to step into my new role as CEO of a brand and business that I have had the honor of building and growing for over three decades,” said Krinsky. “When I walked through the doors on my first day as a Reebok intern, I was immediately awestruck by the brand’s dedication to innovation and authenticity. I look forward to working with the entire Reebok team to unleash the full potential of Reebok worldwide.”
Sparc Group, a joint venture between ABG and Simon Property Group and the operating partner for Reebok in the U.S., also announced two members to the senior leadership team at Reebok. Erika Swan, who has been promoted to senior vice president, global operations and sourcing, Reebok Design Group, will be responsible for the build-out of Reebok’s global operations team, which ensures the delivery of products to partners and consumers around the world.
John Moore, recently promoted to senior vice president, U.S. commercial market, has been pivotal in leading Reebok’s store strategy across the U.S and will now be responsible for expanding the brand’s distribution across the country.
Krinsky will continue to be based at the brand’s Boston headquarters and report to Marc Miller, chief executive officer, Sparc Group.
“Preserving Reebok’s core values was an important focus as we enhanced the brand’s senior leadership team,” says Miller. “Todd is a product visionary who brings tremendous credibility in the athletic industry, and we are confident that he will usher in the next wave of Reebok’s expansion. We also want to thank Matt for leading the Reebok brand and team, as well as delivering the Unleashed strategy, which has created a strong foundation for future growth.”
O’Toole will transition to join parent company ABG as executive chair in January 2023. In his new role, O’Toole will work with ABG’s leadership team on new brand acquisitions, drive strategic initiatives and support the global expansion of Reebok.
“We are thrilled to welcome Matt O’Toole to ABG’s leadership team,” said Jamie Salter, founder, chairman and CEO. “Matt brings over 30 years of leadership experience in the footwear, apparel, equipment, and sports marketing business. For the last 15 years, he provided a clear vision for Reebok through some of its most historic and pivotal moments. As he steps into his new role at ABG, we look forward to utilizing Matt’s industry knowledge and expertise to drive Reebok and the ongoing development of other ABG brands to strategically maximize revenue opportunities across our business verticals.”
ABG said O’Toole led Reebok’s return to its fitness and running roots and reshaped Reebok’s performance credibility with key franchises, including Nano, Zigtech, Floatride, and other innovative partnerships and collaborations. More recently, O’Toole led the company’s “Unleashed” post-Adidas strategy, calling on Reebok to refocus on its athletic roots and double down on its iconic styles. As a result, Reebok saw a 40 percent U.S. market share gain, according to ABG.
Before Reebok, O’Toole was president and CEO of CCM/The Hockey Company for nine years.
“I am thrilled to join ABG’s exceptional leadership team and play a role in the company’s next phase of scaling its business and brands,” O’Toole said. “I am extremely grateful for my Reebok colleagues and the opportunity to lead the brand over the last 15 years. This experience has undoubtedly prepared me for this next chapter of my career. I also want to congratulate Todd Krinsky on his new role as CEO of Reebok. I am confident that under his leadership, the Unleashed strategy is poised for continued success and will drive Reebok’s global growth.”
