Toad&Co. is launching a cross-country road trip with a ‘63 Shasta trailer to drive awareness around the company’s “Save The Planet. Wear Sustainable” message. The tour is headed to the OR Show in Denver.
The tour comes as Toad&Co’s Fall 2018 collection will features 98 percent of the company’s products being sustainably made, or “eCo,” as defined by the brand. The Spring 2019 season launching in February 2019 marks 100 percent sustainability. Per Toad&Co’s stringent guidelines, in order for a product to receive eCo status, it must contain a minimum of 80 percent sustainable fibers and/or fabrics that are third-party certified for responsible manufacturing. This commitment to sustainability extends to all future seasons.
“Achieving 100 percent eCo status is something we have been putting our heart and souls into for many years. I am absolutely thrilled at this achievement,” said Gordon Seabury, Toad&Co CEO. “Sadly, there is no industry standard to define an eco-garment and many companies greenwash by calling some garments eco with as little as 10 percent sustainable fibers. We are proud of the high bar we have set with the Spring 2019 line and hope to educate as many consumers as possible along the way.”
The trailer tour aims to highlight the fact that the apparel industry is the fourth worst polluting industry world-wide and is a major contributor towards climate change–yet there are more sustainable solutions available. Urging customers to join the movement, the Save the Planet. Wear Sustainable.campaign will include a cross-country mobile tour where customers can learn more about how to make sustainable choices and purchase from Toad&Co’s new Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 collections.
“Making sure every one of our styles meet our eCo-standards is extremely hard work,” noted Kyle Boettcher, Toad&Co vice president of design, merchandising and supply chain. “There is always a sustainable option or a cheap option, and though choosing sustainability isn’t always the easy route, for Toad&Co it’s the only route.”
