Timbuk2 Designs has hired Mike Valvano as Vice President of Sales. Mr. Valvano was formerly Vice President of Sales at Mountainsmith in Boulder, Colorado.
“Timbuk2 is investing heavily in new product development and expanding distribution in our traditional bicycle and outdoor markets, and beyond. We're building our management team to execute on our growth strategy, and I am pleased to welcome Mike as our senior sales executive”, said Mark Dwight, Timbuk2's CEO. “Mike has the industry experience, reputation and strategic vision to lead the growth of our worldwide sales organization, and assure the success of our retail partners”, he added.
Valvano is an outdoor industry veteran who most recently spent four years at Mountainsmith where he was instrumental in helping the company launch award-winning backpack and sleeping bag lines, and was nominated for REI's Vendor of the Year Award. During his tenure at the company, Mountainsmith experienced a 300-percent increase in sales. His 15-years of industry involvement also include key sales positions at Kelty and Madden.
“The team at Timbuk2 has tremendous enthusiasm and creativity, and the brand itself has authenticity and integrity that provides a unique opportunity for worldwide growth,” said Valvano. “The new management has spent the last year developing the operational capability to reliably deliver great products at compelling price points. One of my immediate goals is to help make Timbuk2 the best performing vendor for all of our accounts, and to dramatically increase the visibility of the Timbuk2 brand.”
Timbuk2 also has added two new rep groups: Northwest Cascade Association in the Pacific Northwest with Jeff Boon and Greg Talbert at the helm, and Ryan Clark's Quiet World Recreation in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Both organizations were selected for their commitment to superior customer service, industry experience and enthusiasm.
