Timbuk2, the San Francisco-based retailer and pioneer of the messenger bag, announced today that Greg Bass has joined the creative team as Product and Design Director, a new role within the company, effective immediately.


Bass brings extensive retail experience in the outdoor market to the Timbuk2 brand of stylish and durable bags and accessories.  Most recently hailing from The North Face, Inc., Bass spent eight years with the global retailer, where he held a number of positions in product development and design. In 2008, he assumed the position of senior designer of the equipment division.


“Greg's ability to produce creative, functional, award-winning and profitable designs will be an asset to Timbuk2,” says Mike Wallenfels, CEO of Timbuk2. “His experience with consumer facing brands coupled with his understanding of key industry trends make for a leading product and design director.”


A pioneer in his own right, Bass’ bag designs for The North Face, Inc., have garnered numerous awards and distinctions including two “Gear of the Year” awards from Outside magazine in 2007 and 2008. Bass enjoys leveraging his creative abilities towards his passion for and knowledge of the outdoors.
