Timberland has appointed UK-based Darren Leon Mckay as global VP of product design and creative direction. He joins the company from cross-teen rival Dr. Martens plc.

Mckoy worked at Dr. Martens for over 10 years before accepting the position at Timberland this spring. Most recently, he was the global creative director at Dr. Martens for over three years, following four years as global product and merchandising director and nearly three years as global category manager for footwear.

“I’m proud and excited to share that I’ve joined VF Corp. as global VP of product design and creative direction at Timberland,” Mckoy wrote in a LinkedIn post. “This marks a meaningful return to VF, and the beginning of a new chapter with an iconic brand I’ve long admired for its roots and cultural legacy.”

Before Dr. Martens, Mckay worked for Asics Europe BV in Amsterdam as category manager for Asics Tiger and Onitsuka Tiger. He also worked at The North Face EMEA in Switzerland as a product manager for a year and three years as a global product manager for Adidas Originals in Herzogenaurach (Germany).

“I’ve been fortunate to work with heritage brands, shaping stories, building products, and collaborating with teams committed to connecting brand, consumer and culture with purpose,” Mckoy continued. “I’m excited to carry my experiences and learnings into Timberland, and to contribute to what comes next. I’m looking forward to working with the incredible people at Timberland and across VF, building toward the future together, he concluded.
