Nike athlete Tiger Woods returns to the green this week in his first tournament since fall 2015.
Woods and the swoosh will be using the limelight as an opportunity to tease the latest prototype of Nike’s new signature golf shoe — the TW ’17 — projected to hit shelves by spring 2017.
Since July 2015, Woods and the Nike team, led by Nike’s Senior Director of Athlete Innovation Tobie Hatfield, have been working on reimagining the 14-time major champion’s signature shoe.
Much of the new design is based on Woods’ new swing, which shifted dominance from his left leg to his right. Each iteration of the prototype was refined with the objective of keeping Woods’ feet more secure and locked down in his shoe.
