The Mountaineer, located in Keene Valley, NY, has become the newest Retail member of Grassroots Outdoor Alliance. The iconic outdoor specialty store has been a purveyor of fine mountaineering and outdoor equipment since 1975.
One of their key missions is to stock unique, high quality gear for the adventurous. Serious mountaineers, expeditionists, hikers, fly fisherman, campers, rock and ice climbers, trail runners, backcountry skiers, young and old are all welcome.  And in order to provide the best customer service to a variety of customers, they have a highly trained, professional staff to insure that any customer that shops at The Mountaineer will leave with not only the best products for their needs but be fully informed on how to utilize the product.
The Mountaineer is famous for their annual festivals (including the Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival and the Adirondack International Mountaineering Festival) which draw hundreds of participants to meet featured guest athletes who entertain with tales of climbing adventures, take advantage of instructional clinics taught by visiting climbers and local guides, demo gear, and have a chance to gather with the climbing and backcountry skiing communities for an exciting weekend.
The Mountaineer also shares in the Grassroots memberships commitment to being committed to being social and environmental stewards in their communities. The Mountaineer takes this seriously and strives to make a difference through volunteerism and annual benefit events such as their festivals. In addition, they support local schools, athletics, churches, fire departments and others throughout the year. In addition to providing financial support to worthy local and regional causes they take great pride in volunteering for community organizations such as the Keene and Keene Valley Fire Departments, the Adirondack Community Trust, New York Ski Educational Foundation, and local athletic teams.
The Mountaineer is flattered to be invited to join Grassroots, is excited about getting to know and working with the other members and working with its vendors within this new framework,” said Vinny McClelland, one of the primary owners of The Mountaineer. “We cant help but be impressed already with Grassroots and Roannes leadership, organizational skills, persistence and gentle persuasive talents.

The Mountaineer will attend the June Grassroots Early Show being held from June 10 – 13, 2013 in Ogden, UT.
