The Buckle, Inc. announced that total net sales for the 5-week fiscal month ended July 4, 2020 increased 26.8 percent to $94.8 million from net sales of $74.8 million for the prior year 5-week fiscal month ended July 6, 2019.
Net sales for the 22-week fiscal period ended July 4, 2020 decreased 22.6 percent to $261.4 million from net sales of $337.6 million for the prior year 22-week fiscal period ended July 6, 2019.
As previously announced, Buckle temporarily closed all brick & mortar stores due to COVID-19 beginning March 18, 2020. The company started the process of reopening certain stores the week of April 26, 2020 following state and local reopening guidelines. As of July 4, 2020, 438 stores had reopened. The company’s online store has remained open without interruption.
As a result of the store closures, the company plans to only report total net sales each month and does not plan to separately report comparable-store sales during this time. Headquartered in Kearney, NE, Buckle currently operates 446 retail stores in 42 states, which includes the opening in fiscal June of two youth stores in Idaho Falls, ID and Victoria, TX.
