The Bike Cooperative has picked up California-based e-bike maker Currie Technologies in response to growing interest from its member retailers.

Effective immediately, members of The Bike Cooperative will earn additional rebates on all purchases of Currie products, including eFlow, IZIP™, and their newest German engineered e-mountain bike, Haibike electric bicycles.

“As the eBike market emerges in the US, we have been asked by our members to be aligned with the best and most experienced partner for the category,” said Bike Co-op president Scott Barrett.  “The assets that Currie Technologies brings to the table are unmatched in experience, development and execution of product.”

The partnership gives Co-op members, who may have been hesitant to dip their toes into the eBike market, an opportunity to jump in, knowing that Currie will provide all of the dealer support they could ask for, said Bike Co-op director of supplier relations Nat McAllister. “Our members will have access to the eBike technology leaders to train them on this category, and Currie’s nationwide fleet of ‘Road Show’ vans can handle demo events to help Co-op retailers develop the untapped market.”

Rob Kaplan, Currie vice president of sales and marketing, said, “All of us at Currie Technologies are very pleased to be aligned with the strong group of retailers that are part of The Bike Cooperative.  After more than 15 years in business, focused exclusively on eMobility, Currie is the most experienced and most qualified supplier partner in the US eBike industry today. We have a complete package of products and services that are sure to exceed dealer expectations and establish our dealers as the most relevant eBike retailers in the market.”

The Bike Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative with a mission of improving the profitability of independent bike retailers. The Bike Cooperative provides members with exclusive product specials and rebates, consumer financing and credit card processing programs, comprehensive customer loyalty and marketing services, and training in management and sales.

Currie Technologies, which was acquired by the Accell Group of the Netherlands in 2012, has been one of the oldest and most established U.S. developers and distributors of e-Bikes.
