Oakland based Adventure Medical Kits announced that after a two year strategic distribution partnership, Tender Corporation, has invested in the 14-year old manufacturer of outdoor medical kits, safety supplies and information. Tender, a family-owned company located in New Hampshire's White Mountains, manufactures a full line of well-known insect repellents, first-aid treatments and sun and windburn products.
“It's a perfect fit,” says Tender's President, Jason Cartwright. “AMK and Tender are both small companies committed to manufacturing high quality products. The goal of the partnership is to grow and more efficiently operate the two companies by sharing more information and processes than we have in the past. This will include viewing each other's inventory data on a real time basis and holding mind-sharing sessions between our product management teams and sales people. We will be able to share IT and EDI resources and begin to capitalize on each other's strength in the sourcing area. Both companies have great talent and resources and we are opening up the relationship to more than just retail customers. Everyone can learn and grow with this type of relationship”
AMK is reorganizing its leadership team to reflect the new structure. Chris Gubera, National Sales Manager, who has been with AMK for 8 years, has been promoted to President, where he will oversee day-to-day operations and sales. Frank Meyer, Co-Founder and Marketing Director for AMK is pleased with the change. “Chris's commitment to AMK, history with the company and strong relationship with our dealers make him an ideal choice for President.”
AMK has also hired Ted Ganio as the new Vice President of Operations. Ganio, most recently Director of Operations for Sierra Designs, brings 15 years of outdoor industry experience including 7 years in retail with Adventure 16. Amy Quirk, Co-Founder and AMK's President of 14 years, is taking a step back from the daily operations of the business in order to spend more time with her family. Eric A. Weiss MD, Co-Founder and leading authority on modern wilderness and outdoor medicine, will continue to update and write AMK manuals, and will play an ongoing role in product development with Meyer.
Meyer stated, “These changes offer huge benefits to our retailers and employees, and I am excited about the future of AMK and Tender working together. Eric and I will continue to develop products as a team, as we have for the past 14 years.”
