Talus Outdoor Technologies, LLC, maker of the ColdAvenger line of cold weather face masks, announced that Bret Wydysh, BSRT, RRT has joined its health advisory board. Adding Wydysh to the Talus Outdoor Technologies team will bolster the brand’s promotion and validation of its benefits to asthma sufferers in cold temperatures and climates.

The patented ColdAvenger face mask creates a microclimate of warm and humid air, a natural and safe solution for cold weather asthma sufferers. The ColdAvenger helps to prevent cold-induced adverse health effects, such as asthma.

Wydysh is a respiratory therapist at the University of Utah hospital and is also working toward his AE-C asthma educator credential. He also has first-hand experience in living with symptoms associated to cold-induced asthma.

“My work recently has been focused on respiratory health, but as an asthma sufferer since childhood and also coveting an intense passion for big mountain skiing-this is the perfect storm. I’m out enjoying my life to the fullest and I want to be able to help others do the same,” says Bret Wydysh, BSRT, RRT. “Talus makes an amazing product that truly helps cold-weather induced asthma sufferers get outside and enjoy an active life in a safe way. This mask is a game-changer for those who suffer.”

“It’s so great that Bret has accepted our offer to join our health advisory team,” says John Sullivan CEO of Talus Outdoor Technologies. “He will be a great spokesperson, advocate and bring a wealth of updated asthma news and research to our team.”

Wydysh is an avid skier, climber, mountain biker and runner, participating in all of these activities year-round. He also volunteers for the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance and coaches skiing for under-privileged kids through the SheJumps organization.

The ColdAvenger was tested extensively in the severe Northern Rocky Mountain winters to achieve four functional goals: thermal comfort, ventilation adequacy, moisture control, and ease of breathing during hard work or play. The genius of ColdAvenger’s simple ventilation design allows for easy fit for comfort and ease of breathing with no moving or mechanical parts. A counter measure for decreasing the occurrence of these health problems in cold weather is to increase warmth and moisture of the airway without increasing resistance when working breathing rates are high. The ColdAvenger’s patent-pending ventilation technology actually keeps temperatures inside the mask 40˚– 60˚F higher than outside air.
