STX L.L.C., the Baltimore-based lacrosse company, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Reebok International Ltd. According to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court For The District Of Maryland, STX claims Reebok has infringed on one of its patents by making and selling 6K ILL lacrosse sticks.

According to the complaint, STX said it is the owner of U.S. Design Patent No. D496,083 (the “’083 patent”), which was  issued September 14, 2004, for a design entitled “Lacrosse Head Sidewall Silhouette.” Reebok first introduced and began to market its 6K ILL lacrosse sticks and heads in the Fall of 2008.

STX is seeking a preliminary injunction pending resolution of this action and a permanent injunction thereafter restraining Reebok, from further acts of infringement or inducement of infringement of the ‘083 patent. It is also seeking an accounting of profits derived from the infringement and an award of damages “in an amount not less than three times the amount of damages found by the jury or assessed by this Court, for Reebok’s willful and wanton acts of infringement and inducement of infringement.” It also requested a trial by jury.
