Rick Thornton has been named president and COO of the Stride Rite Corporation, with full general management responsibility for Keds, Sperry Top-Sider, Stride Rite Children’s Group, Tommy Hilfiger Footwear, International and Sourcing. David Chamberlain will maintain his position as chairman and CEO of the corporation.
Mr. Thornton has for the last three years captained the Tommy Hilfiger Footwear division of the company. He will now hand the reins for the growing division to former NHL Enterprises and Greg Norman Collection president, Richie Woodworth.
Woodworth and Thornton both worked at GNC, with Thornton filling the head finance position there following other finance positions at Reebok International and its former Boston Whaler subsidiary.
The new SRR president joined Stride Rite in 1998 as SVP, Finance & Operations for the Hilfiger division.
