Strava, which purchased of the running training app Runna last month, announced plans to acquire The Breakaway, the cycling training app.
Strava said The Breakaway aligns closely with its “mission of motivating people to lead an active life,” with Breakaway users connected to Strava uploading twice as many activities as other Strava cyclists.
The Breakaway offers personalized cycling training, ride analysis, and achievement-tracking tools.
“Jordan Kobert, Kyle Yugawa, and the team have built a brilliant app for cyclists who want to improve and achieve their cycling targets, making it a perfect fit for the Strava subscription, which helps users accomplish their goals,” said Michael Martin, chief executive officer of Strava. “When Strava was founded more than 16 years ago, it was created initially for cyclists. These users remain important members of our global community, and we are excited to enhance their experience through this acquisition.”
This announcement comes as Strava secured a valuation of $2.2 billion, including debt, in a new funding round, per The Wall Street Journal.
