Stio, the mountain lifestyle brand headquartered in Jackson Hole, WY, recently announced numerous new hires to support the company’s continued growth.
Launched in 2012, the company has produced a compounded annual growth rate of 52 percent, and is accelerating that trajectory in 2018 with 70 percent year-over-year growth through Q2. Stio draws inspiration from its everyday immersion in the mountain life to create technical, versatile outdoor apparel. The brand has built a loyal customer base through its direct-to-consumer business model, which enables high-quality relationships with its customers and creative freedom for product designs.
“Our continued focus on innovative product, a truly authentic brand anchored by our lives in a vibrant mountain community and a phenomenal set of people have made our strong growth trajectory possible,” said Stephen Sullivan, founder and CEO at Stio. “These new additions to our staff will position us nicely for continued growth the rest of this year and beyond.”
Key new hires include product developers Lori Solem and Emily Kolodzy, customer experience manager Kim Essensa, product coordinator Laura MacQueen and associate graphic designer Maria Sengle. Solem and Kolodzy join Stio from The North Face and Columbia Sportswear, respectively, while Essensa comes to Stio after running Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s award-winning guest services team. MacQueen is a recent graduate of Auckland University of Technology with degrees in fashion design and design for sustainability, while Sengle recently graduated from the Pratt School of Design. These additions bring Stio’s 2018 total new hires to 12, and move the corporate staff to 34. Including the brand’s retail staff at Stio Mountain Studios in downtown Jackson and Teton Village, the company’s total headcount is now over 60, and Stio has emerged as a significant contributor to job growth in Teton County, WY.
By the end of 2018, Stio plans to fill three senior level positions and two junior level positions to support the company’s planned growth in 2019 and beyond. Stio has been working with the Forest Group, a search firm in the outdoor space, for the past seven months in support of its senior level recruiting efforts.
