Randy Neufeld was awarded with the Cycling Embassy of Denmark’s Leadership Award for Cycling Promotion 2012  at the Velo-City 2012 Global Conference.


The Cycling Embassy of Denmark is a comprehensive network of private companies, local authorities and non-governmental organizations working together to promote cycling and communicate cycling solutions and know-how worldwide.

The Embassy collected nominations from people all over the world since late last year through its newsletter. Several prominent cycle advocates were discussed, but in the end, all agreed on awarding Randy Neufeld.


“This year the award goes to a man who has a hands on approach to cycling promotion, and who is always ready to support cycling promotion intiatives,” said Troels Andersen, Cycling Embassy of Denmark. “Since the start of his career as a cycling advocate, he has inspired by his example, and has gone from an activist to being an extremely influential figure for decision makers shaping transportation policy. His continuous personal and professional devotion to promotion of cycling worldwide from Chicago to Eastern Europe has made him the natural choice for this years award.” 

“Neufeld’s work in cycling advocacy has been nothing short of outstanding,” said Kevin Mayne, director of development at the European Cyclists’ Federation. “He’s one of the key figures who’s realises the importance of industry and advocacy, and he’s done some amazing work in Europe, North America and across the globe.”

Previous winners of the award include  New York Mayor Bloomberg and Chilean Activist Lake Sagaris.
