Sqairz, the manufacturer of scientifically backed athletic footwear, announced the formation of a Medical Advisory Board to include podiatrists, sports medicine and biomechanics specialists, and physical therapists.

The Sqairz Medical Advisory Board supports the features of the shoe brand, including its wide toe box, Smart Traction outsole, and stability-focused design. By joining the company’s board, the members arelending their endorsement to the brand’s existing products while committing to further evolving Sqairz’s mission to deliver footwear that meets the highest standards of health, comfort, and performance,said the company in a media release.

The Medical Advisory Board includes:

  • Dr. Martin O’Malley, MD: Orthopedic Surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) specializing in sports medicine of the foot and ankle. Dr. O’Malley is the Team Orthopedist for the Brooklyn Nets, USA Basketball and the Foot and Ankle Consultant to the New York Giants. He has operated on over 150 professional athletes and was named Physician of the Year by the NBA Trainers Association in 2022.
  • Dr. Paul Klutts, DPM: Director of Fellowship for Kentucky and Indiana Foot and Ankle. Dr. Klutts specializes in foot and ankle reconstruction and sports medicine procedures. He has designed and developed several surgical products and holds multiple patents.
  • Dr. Heiko Adams, DPM: Director of Clinical Research for the University of Louisville Podiatric Residency Program. Dr. Adams is an expert in foot and ankle reconstruction and sports medicine, with extensive experience designing and developing surgical and commercial products.
  • Dr. Ryan Krupp, MD: President of Norton Orthopedics and one of the nation’s leading upper extremity and shoulder surgeons. Dr. Krupp has served as a team physician for the Colorado Rockies and the University of Louisville, treating numerous collegiate and professional athletes.
  • Dr. Stephanie Boden, MD: Director of Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the University of Louisville and fellowship-trained at Northwestern University. A former collegiate softball player, Dr. Boden specializes in throwing injury prevention and has led multiple studies on athlete health.
  • Dr. Larry Benz, PT, DPT, OCS, MBA, MAPP, FAPTA: Founder and CEO of Confluent Health, one of the largest physical therapy providers in the United States. A thought leader in physical therapy, Dr. Benz has delivered over 175 presentations to PT programs, national conferences and MBA programs.
  • Dr. Tim Mazer, DPT: Vice President of Upstream Physical Therapy, Dr. Mazer has spent the last 30 years developing rehabilitation protocols for professional and amateur baseball players. His expertise in movement patterns and biomechanics has made him a leader in athletic recovery and injury prevention.

Each Sqairz shoe “undergoes rigorous testing and validation by the Medical Board to ensure it promotes proper biomechanics, reduces injury risk and enhances athletic performance to provide both comfort and confidence for athletes at all levels,” said Sqairz in a media release.
