Spyder Active Sports, a leading technical ski apparel brand, has signed an agreement to be an official supplier to the Austria Ski Team. Spyder will outfit the Alpine team on a long-term basis, including the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torin, Italy. The team was previously sponsored by Asics.

Spyder worked with team officials to create custom outerwear jackets, pants, and race suits. All Alpine team members, coaching staff, sponsors, and directors will be suited in the new collection. “The team had pretty specific requests on the graphic appearance of the race uniforms, and we worked with them to create a design totally unique from any suit currently used in competition,” said Jake Jacobs, Spyder’s vice president of merchandising and design. The suit has a large red “hourglass” on the chest, taken from the Black Widow spider’s abdomen on the brand’s logo. Spyder race uniforms are readily recognized by bold spiderweb and Black Widow spider graphics. Modified versions of the apparel, without sponsor logos, will be available for purchase by the public at retail stores.

The company is thrilled to be the team’s newest supporter. “The choice of Spyder by the Austrian Ski Team is an honor to us, and reinforces Spyder’s world-wide reputation for producing the best competition wear in the world,” David Jacobs, president and founder of Spyder, said proudly after the agreement was signed.

Spyder is an Official Supplier to the US Alpine, US Disabled, Canadian Alpine, and Canadian Freestyle Ski Teams. Based in Boulder, Colorado, the company sells high performance outerwear and sportswear in the U.S. and Canada. Spyder is sold in over 45 countries outside of North America through the Spyder-Europe office in Zug, Switzerland, and through independent distributors around the world.
