USA Triathlon (USAT) has added high-performance athlete footwear company SpringBoost as a Bronze-level Sponsor and has designated the Swiss-based company as the official performance training shoe supplier of USAT.

As part of the two-year agreement, SpringBoost will supply performance training shoes to USAT National Team athletes and coaches, USAT certified coaches, and select Team USA athletes. The company will also launch a grassroots effort to reach triathletes directly at various events in 2007 and 2008, including the Age Group National Championships in Portland, Ore.

“SpringBoost is leading a new wave of footwear technology and USAT is pleased to be able to offer the innovative product to our National Team, certified coaches, and Team USA,” said USAT Executive Director Skip Gilbert. “We are excited to partner with SpringBoost and are anticipating our athletes getting more out of their training with faster results.”

By lowering the heel, SpringBoost athletic footwear achieves health, training and performance advantages. Independent testing, professional athletes and coaches, professional trainers and medical and scientific researchers in Europe and the U.S. agree that dorsiflexion promotes better posture, alleviates pressure on joints and the lower back, strengthens the core, and enhances blood circulation in the legs. Also, dorsiflexion activates muscle fibers when training target zones – specifically calves, hamstrings, and the gluteus (buttocks).

“Springboost is very pleased to become the official performance training shoe of the USAT,” said Andrew Silvestri, SpringBoost CEO. “Our objective is to provide high performance dorsiflexion footwear which enhances the training effect – improving muscle fiber recruitment and offering many other advantages to help athletes improve upon their personal goals.”

Silvestri continues, “At Springboost we take training and competition seriously, which is why we have developed the B-Train training shoe, used by USAT athletes, which allows athletes to adjust the intensity of their workout. We are very excited to be involved in the triathlon world.”
