Sports Basement of San Francisco plans to open two to three stores in 2015, according to an article appearing in the January edition of Stores, which is published by the National Retail Federation.
The retailer, which recently opened its sixth store in Berkley, has carved out a niche in the Bay Area buying and selling close-outs and surplus outdoor and sporting goods by offering a variety of classes from its cavernous, low-rent locations. In addition to climbing, cycling, running, snow sports and triathlon products, Sports Basement carries baseball, lacrosse, swimming and tennis gear.
The interview with Sports Basement Partner and CIO David Rumberg focuses on the company's recent SAP implementation, although Sports Basement still does not sell online.
