Sports Authority will open six new stores in five states nationwide on August 13th, focusing on the major markets of Miami, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Chicago and Milwaukee.
These six locations join the 465 Sports Authority stores in 45 states nationwide.
All six Grand Openings are set to occur simultaneously on August 13th, at 8 AM. Additionally, customers will have the opportunity to register for their chance to win a $1000 shopping spree, along with hourly $100 cash drawing at all Grand Openings. Their individual locations are:
The Miami Sports Authority will have a special appearance by Miami Heat guard Mario Chalmers on Saturday, August 20 at 1 PM and by Olympic Gold Medal swimmer, Ryan Lochte on August 27th at 4 PM.
The Vero Beach Sports Authority will offer customers the chance to win sports memorabilia, including a Dan Marino autographed football and an autographed Chris Bosh jersey. Sports Authority will donate $2,500 each to the Hibiscus Children’s Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Indian River along with a $5,000 donation to the Overtown Youth Center through the Alonzo Mourning Charities.
Los Angeles: The Lakewood, CA store, located at 4950 Faculty Ave., will have a special appearance by LA Dodgers left fielder, Tony Gwynn Jr on August 13th at 12 PM. In support of the local community, Sports Authority will make a $5,000 charitable donation to the City of Lakewood Youth Sports Department.
Salt Lake City: Customers of the Farmington, UT store, located at 220 N. Station Pkwy., will have the opportunity to win memorabilia from some of the best athletes in sports , including a John Stockton autographed shoe and an autographed John Elway football with case. Sports Authority will also donate $4,000 to the Special Olympics, Utah.
Chicago: Sports Authority in Orland Hills, IL, located at 9231 159th St., will have special appearances by Bears legendary defensive back Gary Fencik on Sunday, August 14th at 10 AM, Cubs legendary pitcher Fergie Jenkins on Sunday, August 14 at 10 AM and Cubs Pitcher, Carlos Marmol on Thursday, August 18th at 6 PM. Sports Authority will donate $5000 to local sports organizations including a $1,500 donating to Bear Necessities.
Milwaukee: The Bayshore Town Center, IL store, located at 5850 N Bayshore Dr. in Glendale, WI, will feature former Green Bay Packers defensive end Santana Dotson on Sunday, August 21st at 1 PM. Sports Authority will donate $5000 to local sports organizations and will also be donating $1,500 to the Santana Dotson Foundation.
