Sports Authority will be busy opening or celebrating grand openings for new stores Saturday. The Denver-based reatiler will celebrate the grand opening of its third S.A. Elite store and plans to open four full-line stores, including two in Texas and two in California.



S.A. Elite, Sports Authoritys new small-store concept designed to meet the needs of elite sporting goods customers, will hold the grand opening of its third location in Corte Madera, CA at the Corte Madera Town Center Shopping Center.


 

The 15,000-square-foot Corte Madera S.A. Elite is located at 435 Corte Madera Town Center and will be the third store opened under the banner. S. A. Elite caters to customers specialized sport and fitness needs with premium collections from top global vendors and pairs them with unparalleled customer service, creating an all-around elevated shopping experience. S.A. Elite features perennial favorite brands like Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, The North Face, Saucony, Brooks, Merrell and will highlight niche brands like Chaco, Puma, Hard Tail, Prana, Brooks, Skirts Sports, Zoom and others not commonly found in Sports Authority locations.



In California, Sport Authority will open new full-line stores under the Sports Authority banner in Sherman Oaks and Monterey County. The Sherman Oaks store is located in the Westfield Fashion Square at 13730 Riverside Drive. The Monterey County store, located in the Edgewater Shopping Center at 905 Playa Ave, will mark the first Sports Authority location in Monterey County.



In celebration of the grand openings, at 1PM Sports Authority shoppers will enjoy special celebrity appearances. Former Los Angeles Dodger, Bill Russell will visit the new Sherman Oaks store and Super Bowl Champion Guy McIntyre will visit the new Monterey County store. The athletes will be available for photos and autographs with customers in attendance.

In Texas, new Sports Authority stores will open in Friendswood and Plano. The 35,000-square-foot stores are located in the Baybrook Shopping Area at 1529 W. Bay Area Blvd, and in West Plano at 2201 Preston Rd, respectively.

The new stores will feature an innovative team sports department to supply customers with the soccer, football, baseball and basketball gear they need to participate in their favorite team sports. The store will also have a cheer shop, a logo shop and an expanded hat wall so that fans can access everything they need to support their favorite teams.


In celebration of the grand openings, at 1PM Sports Authority shoppers will enjoy special surprise athletic celebrity appearances at both Texas locations. Sports Authority will also be making a cash donation to local football camps in recognition of each athlete as part of their commitment to the good of sport.
