Average selling prices for sport footwear rose inched up ever so slightly in the month of June, led by strong increases in the sport specialty retail channel, according to retail point-of-sale data compiled by SportScanINFO.  The 0.3% increase for the month of June versus the year-ago period was negatively impacted by a 5.3% decrease in average selling prices in the full-line sporting goods channel as promotions took their toll. 


The average price consumers paid for sport footwear was $49.15 in June.  While ASP’s were up slightly versus last year, the June ASP was down $2.60 from the year-to-date average.  The average selling price of sport footwear was up 3.6% for the five-month year-to-date period through June compared to the prior year-to-date period.


For June, average selling prices were basically flat in men’s sport footwear and decreased 3.1% in kids’ sport footwear, but rose 1.6% in women’s sport footwear.


Within sport footwear, ASP's for athletic footwear dipped a bit, while ASP's for outdoor footwear increased for than 5% for the month.
