Following almost a year of discussions, Specialized and Supergo bike shops have reached an amicable agreement to terminate their relationship in an orderly fashion, the two companies announced jointly today. Supergo will sell the remainder of its inventories of Specialized product through its existing stores. The termination will allow both parties to move forward with their differing business models and visions.

“Our vision is to be the best bike brand in the world”, said Specialized founder and president Mike Sinyard, commenting on the announcement. “To achieve this vision, we first have to fulfill our mission of becoming the brand of choice of discerning customers and dealers and the supplier of choice for the full-service dealer. We are constantly re-evaluating our channels of distribution and making adjustments to help us fulfill that mission.”

The termination is effective immediately and Supergo will make no further purchases of Specialized product. Sinyard declined all further comment on the announcement.
