Smith Optics has hired respected professional cyclist, Greg “Chopper” Randolph, as its bike team and promotions manager, effective immediately.

“Adding Chopper to our team solidifies our level of commitment to the
cycling market,” says Kerry Marumoto, Smith’s Senior Vice President of
Marketing. “With an exceptional team of athletes already on board, Greg’s
vision and knowledge of the industry will allow the cycling category to
become even more viable for us.”

At Smith Optics, Randolph will be responsible for supporting the current
roster of athletes while continuing to develop its team, organize promotions
and travel to cycling events on behalf of Smith. Randolph will be based in
Ketchum, Idaho at Smith’s Headquarters.

Randolph comes to Smith from an incredible career as a professional athlete.
He competed in the 1996 Olympics in road cycling, and was an alternate to
the 2000 Olympic Mountain Bike Team in Sydney. He rode with the GT Factory
Team from 1997-2000 and Team Tomac in 2001. Randolph also competed in the
Mountain Bike World Championships in 1998. While traveling across the globe
and racing in various events, Randolph became a respected freelance writer
contributing to various cycling publications including Velo News, Bicycling,
Bike and Mountain Bike to name a few. Randolph has also been a commentator
and analyst for various competitions throughout the country.
