Smith Optics has hired three employees in its marketing department since late May to prepare for growth in eyewear, optical and helmet markets.

Adam Greene assumed the role of marketing director in late May and  reports directly to Blair Clark, senior VP of sales and marketing. A 15-year industry veteran, Greene has a broad background in winter, outdoor, motocross and cycling industries.  Previously the U.S. marketing manager at Scott Sports, Greene will oversee the PR/communications manager, promotional managers and Smith’s in-house art department.

“We are very pleased to have Adam managing the marketing efforts for Smith Optics,” said Clark.  “As we’ve recognized consistent growth in Smith and our other brands: Suncloud plus Forecast; Adam is a timely and critical addition, directing our marketing efforts for eyewear, optical and helmets.”

Since starting with the brand in late May, Greene has filled two new positions to the Smith Optics marketing team.

Cory Smith has been appointed senior marketing manager. He will be responsible for brand communication and promotions across all multimedia channels. In addition, Smith will oversee the promotional manager team as well as provide guidance to the brand’s newly established field service rep team. In his 13 years with the brand, Smith has been an integral part of building effective guerilla marketing initiatives, including Prospecting Idaho and the Smith Optics Limo Tour, and will continue to drive creative executions in core and mainstream markets. Under Smith’s tutelage, the field service rep team will tour the country in Mercedes Sprinter vans adorned with Smith Optics logos and imagery to provide in-store merchandising and retail promotional support, as well as regional consumer event roll outs.

To support Greene and Smith with brand development and communication, Gabe Schroder has been promoted to the position of senior promotions manager.  In this capacity, Schroder will oversee the snowboard promotions manager and the newly formed endurance promotions manager position, while continuing to manage the ski and bike categories for the brand. Since starting at Smith Optics over eight years ago, Schroder’s proven success as the ski, bike and outdoor promotions manager will be an asset to elevating the use of athletes and promotional opportunities for Smith Optics.
