Outdoor specialty retailer Slim Pickins Outfitters is relocating from Stephenville, TX to Mingus, TX to be closer to the residence and community of its owners, Jahmicah and Heather Dawes. The new location is expected to open on February 17 and celebrate its seventh anniversary with a grand opening next month.
Founded in 2017, Slim Pickins Outfitters has been a community mainstay in Stephenville and will continue to operate the same way it started, “bringing together people from all walks of life as a go-to supplier of outdoor and adventure-ready goods and services.”
The new store is located at 239 Private Road 741, Exit 367, Mingus, TX, near Palo Pinto Mountain State Park in Strawn, TX, and is directly off Interstate 20, between Dallas-Fort Worth and Abilene.
“This move means change and growth,” said Jahmicah Dawes. “When we opened the shop in 2017, we were different people. We were newly married and weren’t even parents yet. This move and the new shop honors what our family desires and pays homage to our roots, how our relationships have grown and changed both within our home as a couple but also as parents and outside of our home with brand partners, supporters and customers.”
Slim Pickins Outfitters will continue to operate its e-commerce site with the same inventory as in-store, shipping within the US. Along with its new location, the retailer will drop a new collection paying homage to the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, featuring bucket hats and crewnecks.
