Skirt Sports’ first-ever consumer-designed project called The Sewing Room entered its second phase on September 6, as the last round of design finalists begin funding for their innovative products.
Skirt Sports customers submitted more than 100 design concepts to the company and five made it through the first two rounds. The top five styles were chosen for the Funding round which lasts through October 4.
During this round, customers preorder their favorite products and if funding goals are met, Skirt Sports will begin the product development process immediately with an estimated delivery date of May 1, 2017. If the goals are not met, customers will not be charged.
“I’m thrilled with the progress of The Sewing Room. Our goal is to be the most inclusive brand we can possibly be. Not only are we listening to our customers, we are asking our community to lead our product process from start to finish. And it’s working,” said Founder & CEO, Nicole DeBoom.
Products that made the top five include:
- Happy High Waist Skirt: High-waisted, supportive, longer running skirt
- No Chub Rub Skirt: Fitness skirt with long (9-inch) built-in shorts
- Out & About Dress: Flattering all-day every-day dress with moderate coverage
- Cruiser Bike Girl Skirt: Revival of Skirt Sports top-selling cycling skirt with chamois
- Serendipity Sarong: Pre & post workout skirt that folds into its own pocket
Skirt Sports will continue to create its popular, best-selling styles and seasonal trend-driven concepts that are sold online, to stores around the country, and in its Boulder retail store. The Sewing Room will supplement this core business, while allowing Skirt Sports to produce styles that it would normally deem too risky.
